My female Varka kinda sleeps with me on the bed.

She gets down on the floor once I am settled in but will get back up onto the bed and pushes me awake when my Bi-Pap machine is pushing around 17-19.
You just never know when or why you may need to sleep with a dog.... lol
Varka can get on my bed anytime she wants - she loves me when I go in the search for fleas and ticks even tho I use Frontline Plus.

Varka is my registered Medical Alert dog.  I have put some SchH/IPO  titles on her and we have been on the National Fields two times as the "courtesy dog team".
What a thrill - I love my dogs.

in the wild dogs run in packs, the alpha male sleeps in a higher, more dominant position..............letting ur dogs on the couch and bed, confuses the pack order, and is a bad thing..........believe it or not most dogs prefer to not b the alpha its less stressful on a dog not to be, its easier to be told what to do than it is to have to decide whats best for the whole pack

That's why no one should allow a dominant dog access to the bed or furniture.

I think people read far too much into dogs being dominant and making issues of it, just stick to the rules of the house and so will the dog most of the time.  Our two housedogs sleep in the bedroom, but not on the bed with us, though Floh the Malinois will sleep on the bed if Ulf is there on his own or if the bed is empty, we just keep a cover on it for her, Digby Dogbi sometimes puts his front feet up and towers over me, but has never tried to get his whole body on.  When Hot DIggery Dog was still with us, he would climb on the bed and lay between us for a short while when we first got into bed and then get off, probably too warm for him, the only time he got on the bed and stayed there was when I was ill and stayed in bed, any attempt to make him get off just made him press closer to me.

Most of the time I am from the Twilight ZoneRegular Smile, but I actually originate from the Isle of Man, a little rock in the Irish Sea with a crowd of drunks clinging to it.

I currently only let me younger female Am Bulldog on the bed on the weekends. That way she don't disturb my sleep when i have to get up early. She's getting better about where she's suppose to be placed on my bed. but sometime i still wake to a butt in my face or paws. My older dog never gets on my bed but she is allowed to get on the couch. Mainly to allow her to get away from the annoying puppy.
Puppy is older now and almost 1.5 years old, but still annoying.
When i had my other two females they both slept on my bed, but not the male. He farted too much! He had his own leather couch that people sometimes shared with him. But never have any of my dogs ever been dominate towards me on the bed or the couches. Or any where else for that matter.
My sister sleeps with i think 7 dogs currently, little dogs on the bed and her 3 big dogs around the bed.  Even though she lives alone i feel she is pretty safe. As she has a Cane Corso, Boxer, Pit/lab, Chinese Crested, Rat Terrier and 2 Min pins. You have a 1 in 7 change for being eaten alive! I'm putting my money of the min pins killing the burgler!

dogs should never be alowed on furnature, or in beds, it confuses the pack order
