I used to use this feature to create a pedigree for printing, but it comes up with the pictures now. Is there a printer friendly version that I can't find?

Margaret it is there.
When you open the pedigree click on longer version select one and then on that page scroll to the bottom.
The lower Left hand corner you will see printer friendly version.
This is for pedigrees there seems to be none for the mating check.
