I have not recieved the papers at this point. I have emailed the breeder multiple times at various email addresses I have been able to find for him. I am not having my phone calls returned either. My girl stepped on something back in the fall and I had to have her sedated for stitches and was wanting to have her prelim hip xrays done at that time as well since she was about 16 months, but was unable to because I didn't have the reg info for the dam and sire.....I know who they are, but I didn't have the detailed info that the vet and apparently OFA require.....so I am stuck here with this dog who is registered, that I have no papers for and I can't get her prelim OFA screening done nor will I be able to get her certification if I do not have her papers by June(ish) when she turns two.
My question is, is there a way that I can bypass the breeder and get her papers directly from the AKC? I am tired of no response from the breeder (LOL). The breeder is well known in the Shutzhund group, he is reputable and has some beautiful dogs. I have seen him recommended here more than once before and after I picked up my girl.
Anyway, any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Thank You in advance

If the breeder is a member of the GSDCA, contact the President via their website and tell him what has happened.
I'd give it another 2, 3 months and if nothing comes of it and you still don't have your papers, then if I were you I'd come back here to this thread and identify the breeder. Many times peer pressure will get results. If the breeder doesn't read this board, someone he or she know does and the word will get around fast. I'd also report the situation to ripoffreports.com. The truth is never slanderous or libelous. You are entitled to be angry; I'd be furious.
Good luck.

If you look up your puppies sire & dam pedigree sometimes the registration #'s are listed. If they are that would be a huge help when you contact AKC.
If the litter has been registered it'll be easier for you to register your dog directly through AKC. If the litter is not registered for soe reason then it would be difficult.
Sometimes there are issues with DNA that prolongs the process by a few weeks - months. But almost 2 years is excessive. Good Luck.

After 2 years I wouldn't wait another minute.......
No way can this person be "reputable" despite what others may have posted on this site about him.

Blitzen....I would be absolutely schocked if my dog was unregisterable.....the breeder is highly active in Schutzhund, he has had a hand in trainer hundreds of titled dogs according to his website...again, I've seen his name pop up here a few times when discussing breeders and schutzhund, never bad, always in a respected manner....both parents are titled KKl1 and sire is Sch3, dam is Sch1, both are listed in pedigreedatabase....not sure if breeder is member of GSDCA....can't find any info on his website regarding that.
cphudson.....last email contact from the breeder was that he had papers in hand and just needed a mailing address, that was late Dec 2010....all communication since then has gone unreplied to. I will check this website to see if reg# are listed....I don't seem to think they are. Sire is german import so where would I find info for him? I don't think he is AKC reg, he would be reg with SV?????? I am asking that becuase I don't know.
dpdmli......Thank you. I will give it a few more days and see if he responds to this most recent email I sent today.....if he does not I will consider posting his name and maybe someone else has had direct dealings. My worry was maybe that something had happened to the breeder but he has produced at least two litters since mine, one with same sire, one with same dam.
Blitzen and GSDPACK.....thanks for the information......if I can find the sire and dam detailed info I will call the AKC on Monday.
Anyone who is active in Schutzhund will know, or I assume they will if he is as active as his website says he is, who my breeder is....he even used to train with my uncle who retired from handlung Schutzhund dogs back in the early 90's, but was highly active through the 70's and 80's. I don't want to name at this moment, but if someone who is fairly active in Sch was to PM me I would give the info and they could tell me if they know of any other issues with the breeder.
Thanks everyone for all of the great information :o) I just want her papers as I have slacked on doing anything with her and really need to get moving before it is too late. I feel like I have wated her thus far. She has been an amazing family guardian, but is not living anywhere near her potential.

If AKC can tell you over the phone that the litter has been registered, then you are half way there. If the breeder has not registered the litter, you are probably going to need some written documentation. Tattoo? Microchip? Any clue where the rest of the litter went?

by aceofspades on 02 March 2012 - 22:03
Ahhhhh gotcha
She did not come from the breeder with a tattoo or chip, I had her chipped once we were home. As for the rest of the litter, aside from knowing that one went to a police officer I know nothing else.
I have emails saved from the breeder including the one that says that the papers are ready to be mailed.
This is the last email I recieved
" Hi all,
I hope al is going well with the puppies and your families. From the reports I have received, it seems like all is going well.
I have just received the Puppy Registrations from AKC. It took an inordinate amount of time because "name of sire removed" needed a DNA test which took about 8½ weeks, which delayed the Litter Registration. Please send the name(s) of the new owner(s) and the mailing address to which you want the Registration Application sent.
If I can help with training tips or other information about your dogs, please feel free to contact me.
Best regards,
XXX"
