I know a little about this because I used to have a german shepherd with a skin problem that could only eat a raw diet.

I would feed him chicken thighs raw with the bone. every day..and I would also make a blended s hake for him of raw egg yolk, kale and peas and he loved it.
chicken bones must NEVER be cooked as they can splinter in the intestines..only feed RAW

you can add brown rice or rice to the diet as well....and vitamins..etc...

I would also give him raw beef as well...

but keep in mind that if you choose to feed a half and half raw diet and dog food diet..make sure you don't feed raw meat within 12 hours of normal dog food as it can really upset the stomach because they are digested differently

I feed my pup a raw diet, and he does exceptionally well. You need to know exactly what you are doing to feed this diet successfully.

You must feed the dog 2% of it's IDEAL body weight (in lbs/oz) every day. 50% of that must be raw meaty bones, 45% must be muscle meat and 5% must be organs.

There are a couple of different schools of thought on the raw diet. I feed a "Prey Model Raw" diet, which dictates that the dog eat in the following rations: 80% meat/muscle, 10% bone, 10% organ (5% of which is liver). No vegetative matter. This is to mimic the composition of a prey animal that a wild canid would consume. Since it is near impossible to feed whole prey animals to our dogs, the idea is to feed "franken-prey," and put the pieces together as best you can. Most dogs do well when started off on chicken, with a bit of a higher bone content to keep stools firm. Then, you want to slowly (depending on how your dog tolerates change) introduce new proteins and eventually, feed as much red meat as possible.

Excreting organs are considered organs, but heart, green tripe, intestine, are considered muscle meats.

You want to feed 2-3% of ideal adult body weight. Adjust according to your individual dog's body condition. My bitch seems to burn calories even while sleeping and at 65lbs eats 2lbs of meat a day, and I'm about to increase that to 2.5lbs. My 75lb male American Bulldog also eats 2lbs per day and is maintaining a beautiful working weight.
