Looking at the results from the British Sieger I noticed how many of the dogs had either one or both parents that were imports - why are there not more 'homebred' dogs? What happens to all the offspring from these imports - do they all go to non showing/breeding homes? Why are people constantly importing - are they not breeding on from the offspring of the imports? Just thinking out loud really.

I have a few homebred dogs out there, but most of them are not doing Schutzhund, most are police K9s.

I would have been there with mine but for my van letting me down and attempting to kill me twice! I'm still very disappointed that I couldn't travel down.

Hope its not too serious - just got mine back from being MOT'd and it actually cost less than I was expecting!
My comments were not a criticism of imported dogs - I have a son of an import - just that it seemed to me that there were an awful lot and many of those entered were breeders who have lines going back a fair way.

just goes to show how little faith this country has in its own dogs, why aren't british bred dogs used more at stud

The fashion is for all that is German, after all they have the better dogs? Personally when I was breeding I always believed in "better the devil I know". In Irealnd not that long ago visiting SV judges used to comment favourably on our very correct medium sized dogs with short hocks & dark eyes. They said " how they wished this was so in Germany".Enough said !
