I recently got the results on these hips, but wondered what you folks would think. I scoured this board for past hip x-rays while I waited and they helped tremendously, so why not add one more thread?
Bitch, 17mos at time of xray.

I usually don't say anything until someone else does but I am going to take the plunge and say a Good.

I think fair; definitely left hip has some remodeling and a little more laxity on left side; some flattening on femur head on the right side; bet she's a jumper?? I hope you get at least a fair, best of luck Nan PS I am being really picky. So is OFA though. good luck.

Never know about OFA. My best guess - good for breed and age. The "flat spots" are normal; that is where the ligaments attach and are indicative of a properly positioned xray where the knees are rotated inwardly.

Blitzen, you are correct. The flat spots are normal parts of the anatomy of the femoral head.

I'm going to say Fair/Borderline due to the Right Hip

I had a dog that was 7.7 BVA and 1 that was 8.10 those are closer to the 8.10 than the 7.7 - no clue what that would be OFA.

What's wrong with the right hip?
OFA is not known for being consistent in evaluating hip xrays. Some breeders I know routinely re-xray any dog that gets an OFA fair rating. The majority of the time the second xray will be rated good or better. Good reason to not get too hung up on ratings.
