Figured it was best to start a new thread so this wouldn't get lost withing the multiple pages of YR's thread...
To recap: Texas SchH competitor and GSD Breeder Isabel Lambertz (vom Haus Reichenfels) was not as fortunate as PDB's Yellow Rose has been so far, and had to flee her home last week as the fire swept through her area. Isabel got away with only her two dogs, her African Gray parrot, her horse, some clothing and some important paperwork; the fire destroyed everything else she owned: house, kennel, outbuildings, car...and all of the contents of the buildings as well. Here's an update from a friend of Isabel's as to what can be done to help, for those who asked:
"Practically speaking, just the day to day items for herself and the animals are going to cost a fortune, and it will be a while before she has any insurance reimbursement. I'm including a list
below, though most of the items are not something that can be popped in an envelope. I honestly think the most efficient form of help right now would be gift cards or cash donations.
THE ANIMALS:
--the dogs, (both GSDs of course!), Donar & Duvel, have nothing. No beds, no toys, no equipment. They are tough, active dogs and need the "extreme chewer" variety of anything.
--the African Gray parrot, Papageno, has his travel cage and nothing else.
--the horse, Matt, has his halter & lead, plus a couple things that were on the trailer and a recently-purchased hoofpick (yippee).
THE MOST CRITICAL NEEDS:
--wire mesh fencing--2x4" heavy duty--to put up a run for the dogs. There are already posts in the ground at the temporary location
--movable corral panels for a horse enclosure would be wonderful if anybody knows of any really good deals close to Bastrop
--square bales of horse-quality hay are going to be a BIG problem. Isabel had just purchased a large quantity, which is now gone. The TX drought makes this very expensive...assuming it can be found for any money at all. Again, if anybody knows of resources close by, please advise.
--large, heavy-duty tarps to cover the hay when she does find some
--used cars, the gas-efficient kind, are also hard to find, for all the reasons we know. Isabel's work car had the front end more or less melted off, and is almost surely going to have to be replaced...unless she wants to bankrupt herself driving an 11=yr-old RV van back and forth to work.

Is there a Tractor Supply near her she could use a gift cert at?

by Donnerstorm on 18 September 2011 - 21:09
I do not know her but my condolonces go out to her, I can not imagine losing everything like that and then having to start over. She will be in my prayers. Since I don't know what stores are there for her to use don't most stores accept the visa/mastercard gift cards?

I think , If I remember right, Isabel, is older than I am.. WHen I was in Spring valley schutz club and also traveled to Conroe all the time, I met Isabel and she had a BAD BOY BLACK MALE shepherd and was already well in Schutzhund and I was a beginner..
SO at any age it is not easy , but any lady at my age or older is like a NIGHTMARE> I already had my home ruined by Lightening striking it in Galveston Co. and long ago my dogs were removed by neighbors in their cages and my cocker spaniel was given r & r by the Texas city fire dept CHIEF.
I went thru months of nightmares, heart ache and anger. I had to half run the contruction company in remodeling my home but my dogs were right there with me.,, and we lived in back yard and one master bedroom for months. I did have insurance but luckily the firedept didnt ruin anything but what was the central of the fire...THEY were great..
I can only hope that Isabel will be at peace and all the monies will help her replace things we bought at our early age intending to have them till we die. We bought things at a price they cannot even be touched at now so hope lots of support goes her way.
THere are some great people down in the Austin areas and HOUSton WHO CAN certainly take all our help and get her back in a place . UNBELIEVABLE
GOOD luck Isabel.
JAN/ and my partner in crime...Jerri Strommen , MYAH and Cuzko...(she may remember COLA and DAX from the Houston clubs...now deceased)

YR, now that I think of it, I don't believe Isabel managed to get out with a computer, so I'm guessing her Internet access is probably limited at the moment.
Shelley, I was wondering the same thing, but I think I'm going to go the route Donnerstorm suggested, and get a Visa or MC gift card, so she can use it for anything she needs, anywhere that takes CC's. Good suggestion, Donnerstorm!
