Just wondering what is your definition of a "HOT" dog

by northwoodsGSD on 12 September 2011 - 16:09
Bob,
Last time I checked a HOT dog was something you put on a bun & ate. Hopefully with lots of onions & ketchup ;)

bob, i always thought it was ( handler and owner trained)meaning that the dog is being handled by the owner and also trained by the owner.

a hot dog is a dog upto this day fashion/fad , show being black/red coat bred on so and so dog, and work being dark (black) sable linebred on so and so dog.

Okay, my Fault.
I prefer mine with kraut and yellow mustard.
Handler Owner Trained. My idea of a HOT dog is one owned from no more then 6 months old that you have done all the trianing and titleing Bh thu...

Agree with you Bob.
Not previously titled by someone other then the owner, not sent to someone for training and then handled by owner... owner does all the work
to title the dog.

My definition is a dog I've done ALL the training on myself (not sent somewhere for a title or for learning a retrieve or how to track) and every leg of every title.

I think of it as owner and pup going through it all together. No other trainers working the dog to prepare it or older purchase of a puppy/dog already started. My first attempt was a bust due to medical issues on the dog and lack of proper structure at maturity. I still have her as a happy pet that still works to keep her mind and body healthy. My second attempt had to be euthed before age 2 for severe epi and mental issues. I am on my third attempt and I feel confident with this dog that he has the complete package and that we are a good team. This is something I feel strongly about and have always wanted to acomplish for my goals.
