looking for advice. my 8 month old german shephard is barking viciously at people and dogs on his walks in the street (just started about a month ago) hes not had any bad experiences and he wears a prong collar but when he does this and we are correcting him he is oblivious  tried the cesar way correcting with a firm tug and "no" to no avail some advice would be appriciated  he was fine up until about a month ago  has no problems at shows like a diffrent dog it only happens on daily walks

he is a WL or a show line i would assume a working line as he is being oblivious or you are not giveing a hard enough correction you have to yank fairly hard on it and release i would say he is probably comming into his own and sees it as his area another way of working on this is refocusing the dog with a tug or a ball they are crazy about or just simply turning around and walking back the way u came and praiseing once the dog quits barking and starts following easely my female wont bark at another german shepherd but she will bark at any small to medium dogs.

Is his hackles up?  It might be a fright bark.    (by all means if the other dog is not dog friendly I wouldnt recommend this) (set him up with a friendly dog)

Have you allowed him to investigate to see that maybe there is no reason to bark?  Possibly not enough socialization - not sure..  But I don't think correction is always the answer...  Just like a dog barking at a garbage can - why bark at a stupid can - I would say he is frightened - let him investigate what he is barking at -give him reassurance you are backing him up..........  If it isnt a frightened bark then work with a "no" and go the other way - when he stops barking - turn around and go back toward what he was barking at - if he does it again - repeat the process...

Personally I would try to take him to the object he is barking at - but I don't try to teach dogs not to bark -I just dont care for them to bark at other dogs....

Just my Opinion though.
