I have looked at the website for Der Verein für Deutsche Schäferhunde and found the application for membership.  From that it appears you send it in along with your Visa Credit Card info and they charge you based on the exchange of Euros to Dollars (I am from the US).
If I have this right it looks like the membership is annualized to November 1.  If I join now, is the membership pro-rated from now to November 1 with the annual renewal due November 1?

Fees look to be:
20 Euros for admission
47 Euros for full membership
15 Euros for the bank being outside of Germany
42 Euros for the SV-Zeitung (Air mail world wide)
Total of 124 Euros with a current exchange of $1.4161 is $176 in round figures.

Do I have this correct?  I also assume they need the info snail mail so you apply for membership and they have original signatures.

If I have it right, I still need to find out about the pro-rating of dues if you apply for membership now, before November 1.

Thanks.

Just so everyone knows.. I did get the answers.  The SV does prorate the membership if you join mid year...

It turns out Google has a translator and it does a very very good job.  I had figured it out mostly because I know a little German.

Also, since the magazine is in German the paying for that is not necessary unless you want to and that saves 42 Euros if you are not in Germany.

It was my understanding that the magazine subscription was not optional. At least that is what was told to me when I asked. Their reason was; that is how they communicate with the members, notice of replacement pedigrees and other important communications are done through the magazine.

That is good to know.  I don't  MIND getting the magazine.. just have to plan on upgrading my German Reading skills.

I just won't spend the extra on air mail.

Thanks.

You would want the magazine.  It generally contains a lot of great information.

A member of the SV can obtain scorebooks for the SV that can be used at WDA and UScA events as well as anywhere else in the world. This can circumvent the political mess we have here in America.

All that's required is for the pedigree with tattoo or microchip verification to be sent in. X-rays still need to go through either the WDA or the UScA for submission and certification with the SV.
