Tried out dock diving this weekend - had lots of fun. Our longest jump was 13 feet - the first place jump in the amateur class was 18 feet (yellow lab). There were a couple Border Collies and one Mal other then that all sporting/hunting dogs.

Wow! thats awesome! I wish I could find a place around here to take my dog. He would love it! I used to take him to the local lake and let him dive off the boat landing, until a park ranger ruined the fun!

Thanks - we had a great time. Here is a link to the venue that travels around and puts on these events.

At this event they only had the SRS super dock not the SRS super V (vertical jump). If you show up with a GSD tell them Summer & Manny sent you
It was the best deal in dog sports ever - only $10 paid our entry for Saturday and got us as many practice jumps as we wanted fri, sat and sunday. Since we qualified for finals with our 13 foot jump on Saturday we compeated again on Sunday. It was so fun - also observed in the Pro division some of these folks take this sport very serious, just a serioues as any other competive sport really... Pretty cool
And one more, this looks like it could be an ad for Eukanuba tee hee....

Yes, there were some surprised faces when they saw us on the dock, but the other dock divers were very friendly and there were some "other" non-hunting breeds jumping. Plus the announcer mentioned several times about the world record (29 feet) being held by a Mal.
There was a water fowl expo going on at the same time so I'm sure some of the old hunters might have seen us up there and thought "WTH is that dumb blonde doing up there with a Sheppard "(intentional mis-spell, LOL) but its all good!
I'm very happy to have been able to have shown our beloved breed in a positive and versatile light. While we were waiting in line to jump Manny was giving out kisses and being his usual goofy and affectionate self. Maybe one of the best or most unexpected complements was from one of the handlers in the Pro division who said I should take him duck hunting some time. I personally have never done that but who knows maybe I can loan him out to someone I trust who does.... LOL
