I tried this thread a long time ago, and didn't get much response, so I'll try one more time. Does anyone out there know much about the Schwarzen Milan lines or former kennel. Some very good dogs have schwarzen milan in their lines, and I'd like to know more about some of them, but have hit nothing but roadblocks in my research. I am very interested in finding out something about Josi V Schwarzen Milan or Mara V Schwarzen Milan. Thanks for any insight you could pass along.

My dog has Mara in his pedigree via Uruk. She is so far back, I am not sure that I can help you much.

a google search took me to a rottie kennel...it may be one of those good kennels that just "dissapeared in the night",but all of the dogs that carry this particular kennel name go back to solid working lines.i'd be pleased to see this kennel name in any dog i owned.....it seems that different foundation dogs were breed to various bitches that may or may not have carried the "schwarzen milan" suffix......(this is true with bitches and studs).i'm a bit like you...i hate to get stumped on a pedigree, but in this case it all seems to be very good breeding ...well respected by a number of good breeders and trainers...there is video available on some of the dogs in various pedigrees on youtube and other sources...it would be great to find the original kennel information, maybe comments and insight from the breeder...hey...keep looking and let us know what turns up...i'm intrested, good luck and enjoy your dogs.

dcw,
I sent you a pm with the contact information for the breeder. No email addie or webpage, though. Just an address and a telephone no.!
Last litter was in 2007 I believe! People do get older and retire with no relative to continue! That happens a lot. The breeder was either located in LG Niedersachsen or the far Northern part of LG Nordhessen, my bet is the first. When you go to the webpage of either region, you won't find Herbert Fiege there. Niedersachsen has a more informative site while Nordhessen leaves much to be desired (hate to say it because that is there I am from).
Anyway, if you are serious you might want somebody who is fluent in German to call or write to the gentleman on your behalf. Oldtimers are a wealth of information. I used to love to listen to their stories when we first started out.
Another way is to ask on the German http://www.leistungshundeforum.de (formerly known as Schaeferhund.net) if anybody knows him or has contact and can tell you if he is still active. That forum, even though it is in German has an English language section. If you do not get an answer there within a day or so, I will go in and translate your post into German if you want me to.
Regards, Chris
