Thought i would do 2 seperate threads.
Okay so in my Giardia hell i seem to have got 3 well dogs.;)
One of the puppies though is now on another round. Today will be day 4 for her and i am still seeing pudding poop in her. Only thing diffrent today is the color changed from brown to yellow.
We do have 2 more days but i am starting to get nervous and maybe shouldnt be.
IS IT possible that panacur wont work on her or can i do it longer term?
I have went out and got my own bottle of Safeguard today so can do it as long as needed. I just wanna know if i should be looking at something else.
Also does anyone have the dosage on Safeguard? Is it the same as panacur? Although on the bottle from the vet that i got from them it says "Safeguard pana" Maybe thats what they are on already?
Thanks for the help:)

There could also be coccidia.
What was the protocol your vet had you follow. How many days? How long between courses of treatment? How many days?
You say your vet is giving you something in a bottle?????? Panacur C (the C stands for canine) is a white tasteless powder.
The Safeguard for horses is a paste in a tube.
Your vet has me confused now.

HI Michele
Here is the time line.
Puppies test positive for Giardia and started on a 7day Metro
3 days later adults also get sick and ae started on 7 days of Metro
Day 7 comes and no change in any of them
Day 7 they are al started on a 3 days Panacur.
Day 2 of that and both adults and one pup pooping normal and still are
Pup#2 is then immedieltly started on another 3 days panacue.
It is day 2 of the second round and she is still pooping pudding and passing gas. But the colour is now yellow rather than brown.
The vets label on the bottle says: Safeguard Pan 10%susp per ml
I did get a bottle of safeguard liquid here as we'll. It is for cattle i believe. They both look like it is chalk in a bottle. When i google them they are both made by the same company with the same warnings etc on the sheet.

Fenbendazole comes in several forms, and one of those is a liquid suspension that's labeled for use in horses and livestock. Regardless of the form used, the dosage for dogs remains the same: 50 mg/kg once daily (or 25 mg/kg every 12 hours) for three days.

Thanks Hexe thats what i thought. But wanted to make sure!

My understanding is that three days is good enough for worms and NOT for Giardia. I have done it for 5 days for Giardia. Then repeat the treatment in 7 days.
All animals have different dosages.

It is important to be sure you are cleaning up. With Giardia make sure all standing water is cleaned up. Make sure you clean their water dishes that are outside are cleaned at least once a day. If you have concrete runs disinfect them with a bleach solution at 1 oz bleach to 32 oz water and let it stand for 20 mins then rinse well. While it may or may not make a difference I also spread chelated lime on the yard about once every three months and water it in. Espically if you love where wildlife is around it can be hard as they transmitt Giiardia. Not only do I have my own dogs but a lot of rescue dogs come through here so it is importnt to keep up on it.
