Red Sable

by Red Sable on 24 July 2011 - 22:07

Just curious Daryl, was it a sable to a black and red?  If so what colour of pups do you get? Would they all be sable?

Dee, I liked your post.  I'll bet the blanket black and red pups are gorgeous.  Not saying looks are the end all, but I admit, if I have to look at them for a long time, I want to like what I see.

The stud is a sable with recessive black, bred to a black/tan female that as I expected, resulted in lighter shaded sable pups and what I presume to be blanketed back B&T's.

Here's a B/T female and a sable boy.

Quote: But a switch is necessary with any breed. If the dog is always on the move and always needs something to do, this doesn't just border neurotic - it is neurotic. Which isn't a healthy mental state for the animal. If you like your WL's to be mentally unhealthy - that's your choice. But I would prefer a dog I can bring home to my child, and they know that they need to calm down.

No, a switch is not necessary with any breed. People who think that a dog that is always ready to go is mentally unstable need to switch breeds. Your opinion is that a dog that is ready to work all the time cannot calm down, and is unsafe around children is retarded. I took Esko to the hot dog races, and their were children all over and he was fine with all of them. He likes being petted and ate some hot dogs and some snow cones quite nicely.

I am not talking about a neurotic dog. I do not know anyone that will deal with a dog that paces constantly around the house like an idiot. Neurotic dogs are not what I am talking about.

Jeff, you still haven't answered my longevity question- what's the oldest age you've trialed your FR breeding dogs?

by Jeff Oehlsen on 25 July 2011 - 10:07

I will let you know in 7 years or so. Esko is two. He has very little problem with the jumps, and has been able to do max since he was 7 months old. Now, they are a joke to him.

Basco still does maximum heights at 5, and he is not in any sort of condition. I did not get him to trial with.
