Either find a competent trainer or give the dog to someone who knows what they're doing.
There is only so much advice someone can give over the internet without actually seeing what is going on and
getting to know the dog. Aggression is one of those things that in order to keep everyone safe, the best advice
is to hire a trainer who has extensive experience with GSD and other dominant working dog breeds. Check refrences!!

yea i know GSD can be alot to handle and you have to know how to handle them and make sure you know what your doing before you get one but im very dedicated to the breed i jus think there beautiful amazing dogs and i wish so many people would stop breeding them and buying them just because of their name but thank you i been trying to find a good trainer around my area but thanks ill keep looking but my significant other works with someone who use to breed them for 15 yrs maybe till i find a trainer i like ill askin him for advise.. also i heard if u crate train a german shepherd and leave him in the cage while you go out it will mess with their head and make them go crazy over time is this true????

i feel sorry for your pom
can u find the pom a better home?? so it is not at risk ??? pom stands NO chance at defending itself from ur land shark
lots of people are looking for poms they are easy to place and find great homes for if you cant work things out just dont let him nail the pom and dont let him get close enough to touch it

i had 3 working line shepherds 2 schutzhund dogs and i have a pomeranian and a poodle aswell the pom plays with the shepherds but i am also boss in my house and when i say enough everyone stops and lays down. i have never had a problem in 3 years with my guys.
when you crate a shepherd it brings out their drive. so they get very hyper and you can think them crazy but if you take a dog who has bin crated and leave them in the house once trained they will calm down.
you need to make the pup see you as boss and you arnt apparently i have never bin bit by my dogs becides when i have their drives activated and i am dumb enough to get a body part near their mouth lol. and then its just a accident you need to get with a trainer or get rid of the shepherd to a family who knows what they are doing untill u do more reserch. you should always crate train a shepherd. i dont know who told you they will go crazy over time but they dont know the breed.

Not to take anything away from the above posters and without seeing the scenario take place but is aggression the right word? And maybe in fact the pup is aggressive but by what you describe; you're running in the house and he wants to play? Is it a nip or full out bite. Pups are full of energy, jumping, pawing, nipping and so on. IMO pups don't know their own strength, like when they run full speed into you they don't know that you feel it, or when they run next to you and take your leg(s) out that it'll hurt. Or when they paw or box or flop their paw on you or the other animals, you feel it.
I'm just wondering if you're reading the situation right or describing the right words. My pup when she is excited to see me will have her tongue going 100 miles a minute. And her teeth will be snapping as if she's biting something. So once in a while there's a nibble in there that doesn't feel good. But it's just her excitement.

Hey Alboe2009!! That is exactly why I said she needs to get to someone who can read the situation and give advice :) Because
we can't see what is going on. I feel the same way, but given the poster's experience level, the situation could easily escalate
if nothing is done :) Especially with the Pom, being it sounds like the GSD feels it is prey.
My 12 months old is a mouthy jerk, but I wouldn't call it aggression either. It's b eing a mouthy, high drive puppy with no
outlet for it all.

Like everybody else haven't seen your dog, advice I have with out seeing the dog is 1. socialaize the dog. 2. get a pinch collar. 3. act like you own your dog you out rank him and at the momment you don't. 4. try some training!!
by weeg on 30 June 2011 - 10:06
agree with other posters (pinch collar defo not) get to a trainer or rehome the dog, your pom will poss end up being injured or dead.(my pals pup killed her yorkie because she had`nt a clue what she was doin). Gx
