Our veterans deserve what they have now which are wealth and respect, they gave their life for us so it's our responsibility to treat them well. Part of treating them well is giving them great medical benefits. But it seems that the government is too cold to give those. United States veteran health care is a labyrinth of inadequacy. Add to this the fact that some crucial medications do not work, as reported by a brand new study in the Journal of the American Medical Association. According to the study, probably the most widely prescribed PTSD narcotics are no more useful than placebos at curing the condition, yet still have severe side effects like weight gain and exhaustion. Article source: Antipsychotics fail to alleviate PTSD symptoms in veterans. I hope the government would do something about this matter soon.

That is a great program! Not to get the thread off topic but Janus, I come from a military family every man on both sides of my family has been military. Yes our veterans do deserve those things but you said they have wealth and respect. I don't know of any military veteran that got wealth while serving our country. The average pay for a soilder while they were deployed in Iraq/Afghanistan is 35,000 a yr. I wouldn't consider that wealth especially if you are talking about a job where people are shooting at you or trying to blow you up. There was also a HUGE increase of veterans coming back and due to PTSD and other related problems not being able to hold a job in the civilian sector or function causing them to be homeless. I agree the healthcare system for veterans is not what it should be, but it appears that just falls in line with all the services provided to our veterans. The fact that the drugs for PTSD do not work however is not because of the government, just like any medical professional they can only use what is available. PTSD is a very serious thing and there is no drug that is going to work alone, what might help wld be efforts being put into programs like the one this thread is about and others that provide support for the soilder, making sure they have a support system they aren't living on the street, and they don't feel alone, more and better couneling services. This program is great somebody actually thought outside the box . I know my dogs are very theraputic for me. For these guys I think it would be a god send, it is somebody that is going to love and support them without judging them, gives them something to take care of and feel needed by. Thanks for posting the info so we could all show our support!
