Or can you at least make sense of it for me? :P

http://www.swnebraska.com/welcome.htm

They recently retired their dam "Judy" and this is what they say on her page... "We took Judy out of the breeding program because we did not feel that she fit in with the breeding standards. She is 90 lbs. and that is very large for a female GSD."

The thing that confuses me is that the dog is 5 yrs old, and they have had 3-4 litters with her at least. Why are they just now deciding that she suddenly isn't in the breeding standard anymore?

Of course, this is the same breeder who breeds an unilateral cyptorchid male. "Ugo" was the father of all of Judy's litters, as well as two of their other dams. He's been bred a lot so I suppose that right there should be a red flag. He was their only stud for quite some time.

I can't make sense of much of anything on their page.
The dogs are healthier because they don't linebreed?
They advise selecting your puppy early to make sure you get the color/coat that you want?
The contract is confusing, since according to what I'm reading, they only sell their dogs as companion dogs (it says explicitly NO BREEDING), sells their dogs on limited contract....and then goes on further down the page to say "The dog must not be bred before it is 2". And I found one of their dogs on another site listed as a brood bitch. Despite them saying they don't sell to breeders.

It bothers me when someone prelims a dog, but never gets the official OFAs and then breeds the dog for the next 7 years. I would sooner skip the prelims, OFA at 2 and then use those. That's my personal beef, though. Even more so when they prelim one thing, like the hips or elbows, but offical OFA the other.

It just looks to me like there's no real concentration on the standard or even bettering the breed, just throwing dogs together to make pretty, happy pets to sell and just throwing around words like 'champion', 'BSZS', 'Schutzhund' to try and appeal to people who don't know much, if anything about these things but believe them to be AWESOME.

Yeah, that's another thing. They don't seem to ever use any "new blood". Plus I see them breeding their dogs on every one of their heats... they just had some Pepin/Ugo and Heidi/Ugo pups... and that litter with the black babies left. I have yet to see them actually use any other stud than Ugo.

When I was looking around for breeders in Nebraska, I came upon these guys and have been watching them since. At one point in time they had Ugo, their male, and Heidi, Pepin and Judy. I don't remember if she told me over e-mail or it says somewhere on the site that she only kept a few dogs because they are a small hobby breeder and don't want to have too many litters per year.
