I have a 1 year old GSD, he has had a lot of health problems along the way, partially i think due to the breeder where we got him. Lately he will eat at most a solo cup full of food a day. I feed him Blue Bufflao and he turns his head at it. I even mix it with eggs, or peanut butter, or soft dog food, and still it sits there. I am taking him to the vet today but I was wondering if anyone had any tips on how to get him to eat, or what could be wrong. He has hit a plateau in gaining weight and has still yet to fill out completly, so you can see my cause of concern. Any help or advice you can give me would be greatly appriciated. thank you,

Emily

try adding cottage cheese....or sour cream...good way to put some weight on...
if all fails try raw...good start would be 2 chicken quarters per meal 2-3 times a day...10 pound of chicken quarters can cost you between $7-$8. and can last you a week depending on your puppy size...

I had the same issue right about the same age. I ended up adding raw meat to the kibble, but didnt help. I started feeding a leg quarter at nite and kibble in the morning. My female totally stopped eating kibble. I switched to 100% raw and it was great to see my girl eating I shared your concern. Went she turned 18 months I switched her back to kibble. She is on Blue Buffalo Wilderness and I love the results. I think I encouraged her to come totally off kibble by giving a taste of chicken but I got desperate. In the end I like the route I took. Only switched back to kibble cause of money and didnt want the pressure of getting her meals right to make sure she got balanced meal. Might switch back to raw when I more consistent in all things. Good luck.

I dont know why everyone is so concerned with feeding raw and the dog getting all their nutritional values met. I feed raw and I give my dogs a wide variety of foods. I have bloodwork done to make sure all is well. If anything I probably should add more salt but since I myself am not a big salt user, the dogs probably dont get enough.

If your dog doesnt like what you feed, then feed something else. Have you honestly ate a kibble? Yuck its disgusting. Would you want to eat it? Not me.

.finicky eaters are a pain in the arse...if no health problems...put food down n  once he shows no interest... take away imediately..seal in container.. fast the next day only h2o with a little honey...feed the next day. no interest remove... repeat daily..he will get the idea....be relentless.. this is for his own good.i have used this many times over 40yrs..i have no place for finicky eaters...always has worked
