Is there an online search engine available for a breeder to enter a stud's name and damn's name for determing COI (coefficient of inbreeding) for German Sheperds?
Thank you.
Thank you.

Of what use is the COI to you when you find it?

Hey what exactly does that mean anyway? I knew someone who spent big bucks on a CD that was supposed to figure all that and I never understood it. I mean, not to be smart ass or anything but myself I can look at a pedigree and tell if a dog is inbred or not. What else is there to know? What do percentages have to do with it? Thanks in advance for enlightening me.

If you really want to find it out... Pedfast that used to be called Mans best friend (its a database pedigree software thingy) has it built in... or it used to. Not sure on the new software, but the old MBF did. Now if you can find a copy, and find a computer it will still run on, and spend oooh i dunno a few months filling in your dogs pedigree completely, back at least 10 gens, then you could find out that way.... P.S if you find a pc that it will run on can i borrow it, cos I've not had access to my MBF database since win 98 :(

working-dog.eu is a website that will give you all the information you are looking for. Good luck!

Pity it is not available on here with the wealth of pedigrees already on the database. I did have it on my first pedigree program (on a floppy disk!) but I changed to Winsys and no idea what it was called or if it is still available. Used to be advertised in the UK dog papers.

I had an old calculation program, Windows platform, but it got glitchy at any OS beyond 98/NT. It might've been MBF, but honestly, I can't remember anymore. It was an outstanding program. I've never been able to find another one I liked since. Tried several random freeware apps, but they've all been horribly substandard, and not worth installing.
I too would like to know a great site/program for COI calculation.

So, that software can tell you maybe one roll of the dice out of millions. HA HA.
How cool would that be if it were that simple ???
