Facebook/Stop Abusing Coffee

More than 5,000 people have "liked" the Facebook page already. The ASPCA is investigating.

An animal welfare group is investigating the treatment of a panhandling dog often seen holding a pipe in its mouth for hours outside New York City's professional baseball stadiums.     

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals said it sent investigators to Yankee Stadium Sunday to look into allegations by some baseball fans who say the dog named Coffee is being abused by its owner.     

But the ASPCA said Monday it was unable to locate the dog or its owner.     

"We will continue to monitor the situation and remain prepared to take appropriate action, as warranted," the organization said in a statement.

The dog is often dressed in a Groucho Marx disguise and sits outside Yankee Stadium or Citi Field on game days. She wears a Wright No. 5 jersey for Mets games, pinstripes for Yankee games and has a plastic container for donations at her feet.

Abuse. They are forcing the dog to perform for hours on end by using a shock collar.  

maybe i should re word this thread,. I definately think its messed up.

IT IS IN MY OPINION ANIMAL ABUSE. NO ONE HAS A RIGHT TO PUT A DOG THROUGH THIS FOR HOURS ON END. I CAN'T TELL THE CONDITION OF THE DOG FROM THE PICS.

I live not too far from the stadium and too bad I didn't walk by and see this on DAY 1! Not only has this dog been abused by having to sit in one spot holding a pipe in her mouth for hours, but also the training behind making a dog perform this act. My dogs wouldn't want to nor would I ever expect them to hold their favorite toy in their mouths for hours....There is just absolutely no reason for it on top of being mistreatment. Panhanding for it's owners, what selfish and thoughtless owners! It's just way too easy for any idiot to own a dog and unfortunately it seems the ASPCA didn't immediately take this dog into their possession.

In my opinion, it is--poor dog!
