Some are here and not posting.  Some have left and found other forums.  Some, like myself check in and post occasionally.  I belong to several forums and spend less time here.

IMO, they are sitting in the background waiting, for what who knows, but they are here.

Some left because of overzealous moderation, which has not been a problem for months, now.

Some left because they have a point to prove and they are still out trying to prove it.

Some left because some of Oli's most loyal members started their own forums and took as many people as they could.

Some left because they were multiple user names and have been banned.

Some left because it's BORING here, SSDD.

Some left because they could not say the f word.

Some left because discussing grocery shopping and being bored on their own site is a good time.

That's probably so. They liked being off topic, which you know because you opened an off topic area yourselves. But you'd only know that if you were bored here and going to read on other sites.

Part of the problem here is that nobody uses the search function. How many threads do you really need on raw feeding, kibble brands, EPI, dwarfism, color genetics, etc etc etc? Why not teach people how to LOOK for info instead of just posting to hear themselves talk?

Tutorials are being made for a lot of things. It just takes time. Plus, it is a forum and people are going to ask questions over and over. It is not SSDD or you would not be here? Right?

Honestly, I have been to one other dog forum and that is it. OT has been in discussion since September 2010.

You mentioned in chat and on your forum how Oli is copying off you, I hate to break this to you, but Oli's site has been here since 2001. Who copied what?

I think it's just as hard to take members from an internet forum as it can be to keep them.  People make a decision as to which forums they will visit and where to spend their time when surfing the net.  It would be the same as saying that Pepsi took Coca Cola's customers or Burger King took McDonalds customers.  But using that analogy, members (customers) didn't find what they were looking for here a few months back and went else where.  Some long time loyal members were fed up with how this site was run or the lack of control and started their own forums where they can do things the way they want, avoid the trolls and have a say in how things are run.  Can you blame them?

Really, does Burger King allow customers to hold up McDonalds signs while eating? If you go stand in the foyer at Burger KIng and tell all the customers that McDonalds doesn't have cockroaches, but BK does, how long will you last in BK?

It takes time to clean things up, no? Or should we let overzealous moderators who are friends to most of you ruin the place and give everyone a reason to leave?

Boy, no kidding it hardly compares! Who would invest hundreds of thousands of dollars in this???
Jeeze.
