Good to see you again.
I agree with locking the door. My doors are never unlocked. I have had the wind blow the door open and the dog walk out. I have a dog that will defend his territory seriously, if he is in the house my doors are locked to avoid that exact situation.
Remember, common sense is the leat common of all the senses.

I understand your dog's behavior completely because my girl is the same way. That is a good dog that did the right thing! He didn’t bite the neighbor; just let you know that an uninvited visitor was in a house.
We warn everyone, i.e. friends and acquaintances not to let themselves into our home under any circumstances. Especially if we are in it! Even if you are a guest and go out to your car, wait for us to let you back in. Very close friends and frequent visitors whom she knows well and has accepted to the ‘extended pack’ can came and go as they please.
Additionally, she is the same about picking up my little children. If she doesn’t know we allow you to handle them, she won’t let you. Don’t misunderstand me, she is very friendly and will play with you if I let you in my house and ask her to say ‘hello’.
My husband’s friend, staying overnight, walked into the Master Bedroom early in the morning while we were sleeping. He’s still afraid of her…
