A bit old, but an interesting article on a visit to the kennels.

What a great article--not sure how I missed this one in my USA Magazine issues from back in 2007, as I surely would have remembered it.

Years ago, I printed out Greif's pictures-before I even knew who he was--because I was astonished how much he resembled my dog, not just in structure, but expression as well.  You know, when you're just doing research, going through picture after picture, and then--BAM--you, think, "Wait a second, that looks EXACTLY like my dog!"  Now it's pretty cool to see him mentioned by Koos.

Also loved his observations about sport vs. working dogs (not that's it's any secret, but just good to hear it from a breeder like Koos) and his statement that "achieving high scores is not an individual effort, but the collective result of the helper, club members, and the right dog at the right time."

Thanks for sharing this Mark.

Thanks for the reminder of this article.  I read it when it first came out.  I like the part about Fado and Xando not being picks of their respective litters.  Yet, they had success.  Mr. Hassings insight into his puppy program is quite interesting.  This is not an exact science and nothing ventured is nothing gained. Its amazing how there was once one german shepherd dog that was capable of wearing many different hats.  Now there are many german shepherd dogs that are only good for single purpose.
