I have a 8 month old German Shepard with a 'crooked' tail. Are there any ways to get if fixed?
When he was about 3-4 months old, his tail was still straight. However, time passed by and the tail get 'crooked' by the time. And now, it looks nearly the same with the one in this thread:

PS: My GSD didnt have any accident in the past and he has a quite long tail. Could the long tail leads it to be 'crooked'? In the above thread that I've posted the link, people said that trim the hair in the end of the tail would solve the problem. Is it true?
Really appreciate all of your comments about this issue!

fomcdf, tail issues were covered pretty thoroughly in the link you provided. Really not a lot to add.
tails can curl, corkscrew, hook and kink sideways and carry high. causes can vary from too long, genetic, injury, dislocation or muscle spasm.
the only ones that can be fixed short of surgery are the dislocations and spasms. a dog can get a "kink" in the tail muscle, much like humans get "kinks" in the back. these can be worked out as can dislocations.
As far as "fixing", yes it can be done and I have seen all manner of tails that have been repaired surgically, as has anyone who has spent time with Am. s/l.
It is not only unethical, it is a foolish road to start down if one plans on breeding, as it is a gift that keeps on giving through the generations.
best,
Rik

Hi Rik, so is it possible to solve the problem by trimming the ending hair of his tail? By the way, when he eats or drinks, his tail is still straight but not one sided crooked.

I haven't noticed trimming the hair to ever make much of a difference with tail carriage. Perhaps it does, but that hasn't been my experience, so I don't bother with it anymore. *shrugs*
I had a female whose tailset was perfect, but she had a ridiculously long tail long enough to rest bone on the floor at a normal (non-stacked) stance. Counterwise, I've had a few dogs with average length tails that haven't been as desirable as I would like in certain positions. Nothing horrible, per se, and it was probably something no one else but me really noticed, but it was one of those things: I noticed it, then I couldn't "un-notice" it. :-S

@Carrol: Honestly, I dont really understand what you mean. Can you explain your opinion in another way for me to understand it better? :D By the way, my German Shepherd's tail also can reach the ground in a normal standing style (when eating or drinking). Could it be the reason of the tail to be crooked? :D
