Hey everyone how have you been...

So here is the problem with my dog..

There are certain spots throughout his body (4) that if you begin petting him in those areas his foot begins to go crazy, kinda like when you hit "their spot" and the leg starts movin...

I check the spots and 3 of them are normal...No ticks, fleas, any bugs, no red spots...Nothin...

The last spot is a Little red But i imagine that comes from him and he either scratches/bites too hard when he is hittin that spot or too often..

Anyway, I feed him Solid Gold Barking At the Moon.. We just moved to FL from up north..He seemes to have enviromental allergies down here...So maybe its something to do with that?

Either way what can i put on/give him to resolve what i think is a dry skin issue...

If it doesnt sound like one im open to all Possibilities...

I Appreciate the Help everyone..

I use Vectra For Flea and Tick Meds...But this problem persisted since before then, Even when i was up North but moving down here has seem to Make it a tad Worse..

Salmon Oil is a beautiful thing:) Mine are on Orijen fish blend  for food which is full of good oily stuff and also get salmon oil mixed in with there food. I wanted to change there food as i was concerned about the protein level so i tried them on "Now" but within days my male was scratching. So back on the orijen they went and he has now stopped again:) They both have the most beautiful silky shiny coats and no scratching.

Dont know if that will help for yours but it is worth a try.

If  you add salmon oil to his diet make sure you also add a Vitamin E capsule, 400 mg along with salmon oil as it sort of activates the salmon oil.  Very important.

I just throw it in the bowl but if you have fuzzy eaters you can put it in velvetta cheese or cream cheese;  believe me they will gobble it up.  I give both to all of mine only every other day;  has really helped the coats I will say that.  also is a natural anti inflamitary for the seniors so am pleased with that also.  Best of luck  Nan

His food is fish based (Solid Gold Barking at the moon) And he still isnt getting enough fishy oil, wierd lol..

Also what is the frequency i should give him the salmon and fish oil? Everyday at feeding time? Every other day at feeding time? The days i Give him the Oils do i do it both meals or just one?

Also where do you get your fish oil from? Online, where is an inexpensive place?

I appreciate the Help guys!! Thanks.

You can buy liquid cold pressed salmon oil;  I use Salmon oil capsules I found at Rite Aide drug Store or Walmart has them  1000 mg;  also Vit E can be found in any drug store even super market, is cheap;  and for adult I give 400 mg.  You can give every other day if you like ot even every day.  Up to you and the itching.  I did notice a difference in coats and I also have an itchy girl and this has helped.  I love it when you can actually SEE results; if you know what I mean.  Best of luck  Nan

So 1000mg Salmon Oil Capsules and 400 mg Capsules of E?

I feed him Morning and Night...I would give both feedings, on the days i give it to him?

I just want to make sure im not going to give him too much and then something bad happens lol

O Also, a little off topic, What could i give, Naturally, To make his bad breath go away....

His food is fishy and now these capsules....I hate fish LOL...

Thanks!

No only one time per day;  and in fact you can actually give it once every other day if you want at first;  less is better in my book.  All my guys do much better on the pre-measured Salmon oil capsules;  the liquid Salmon Oil is a lot harder to measure.  Give with Vit E capsule one time per day also.  Or every other day.

I would not leave him on the fish diet totally all the time, I think it's OK for one bag of food;  then go to something else offered by the same company;  Like Red Meat or chicken diet or venison diet..  Not totally fish.  Or try Orijen or whatever is available to you.

If  you really want to get rid of the bad breath I would only give him kibble once per day and try a chicken quarter RAW only for a meal instead of kibble.  All kibble rot's the dogs teeth and that is what you are probably smelling along with fish.  Not a good combination.  That will also help his dry skin problem, build muscle; clean his teeth and generally keep him healthier.  Good luck  Nan
