Our 2 imports are screamers, but we have managed to stop 1 of them from doing it. Were working on the other 1. It's not a good thing to have, and they are the only one's that we've ever had do this..

If I have a problem like that, I get out the sheep herding pole and tap them in the rear, and it redirects them to look at the pole and say hey, what was that for, and all the while it's like Shhhhh, stop that.

OehtMan would be let out of his crate in the morning, and start running through the house barking and run out the door barking, since I used the pole he's much more subdued.

I don't need to show him the pole anymore, I just say Shhhhh, or hey!

You look bigger to a dog when you are holding a big stick/pole in your hand, and you don't need to yell, Speak softly and carry a big stick.........

had a screamer before too. linebred 3,4 on Mink. dad was a Leerburg male, son of Otis and Jenny Tierkerhook, mom was a Hungarian import, sire was 2x national Hungarian working champion.  She sounded like a damn hyena.  only did it when outside in a kennel, and it was constant.  I eventually placed her, but still have her sister who has never done it (she's going on 6yrs  now, have had her since 8 weeks old). their mother never did it either, I was told it came from the Leerburg sire who was known to produce at least 1 screamer a litter (was also told Mink lines were known for this trait?).

she literally sounded like a woman being murdered  it was awful and nerve racking.  tried noise distractions, collars, nothing helped, except for just letting her out in the yard.  she was completely happy then.

Beckett, my screamer, has Timmy vd Bosen Nachbarschaft in his pedigree. I was told he was a screamer, too. Anyone know if that was true? And, yes, when Beckett screams, it sounds like someone's sawing his tail off sans anesthetics. You'd really think someone was killing him. And when he does it, I'd like to! jackie harris
