A couple of months ago while playing tug with my male dog I had a strange thing happen. My male expressed some kind of clear odorless fluid from his anus. I stopped tugging and looked to see if anything was wrong and then continued to tug when he did this again. I have never seen this or heard of this before. Does anyone have any idea what it could have been?

My first thought was he was expressing his anal glands as a result of all the pressure on his innards from tugging. But if it were anal glands, the fluid certainly would NOT have been odorless!
Strange one, that's for sure....

It was definitely not his anal glands. I thought so at first too. But it was clear like water and completely odorless. It was wiped up with a paper towell and then smelled for anyone wondering.

first i would have him checked for worms/parasites and if that was clear, check for coccidiosis.

Completely clear of parasites. This happened about 2 months ago and had him checked. Hasn't done it before or since. It was the strangest thing I have seen in a while.

hi,this happened my male dog once, when he was a year or so old.it was hallow 'een and some asshole threw a banger(firework) across the wall into my garden, thankfully it exploded before the dog got near it,but the dog was very distressed and when i went out to him i noticed that he too had this clear odourless discharge.the other dogs smelled it and kinda shrank away from it,so i thought maybe its some kind of fear/distress reflex to warn other dogs perhaps?...i dunno?but that was three years ago and he's been fine and healthy since,a little anxious when there's fireworks about, but no more than most dogs.
