I have read and been told of the positives about supplementing with salmon
oil. Are there any negatives? Has anyone had poor results with salmon oil?

I used it with good results - helped with coat, elimated dryness and itching. I've completely moved away from supplementing. I use a fish based dog food along mixed with chicken based food - Acana. Same results less work.

I use Yummy Chummies (comes in a pump, like hand soap, and you pump it over their food) and have had no negatives. Dogs have very healthy, shiny coats, no dry skin. It is the only supplement/topper I add to their food. At first I was worried about runny poo because it looks really greasy but they've never had issues with it. I guess the only thing is when the dogs get really wet (like for a bath) they have a slightly "fishy" smell but it's not really a bad, stinky smell.

If you add salmon oil be sure to supplement with Vit E capsule; I believe it's 200-400 mg per dog depending on weights. Best of luck Nan

I use Wholistic Salmon Oil, can be bought from k9power.com and other places.....it's very cost efficient if you have a lot of dogs they only need about a teaspoon per day. Have only had good results, not only does it help with skin/coat but the heart, vision, joints, brain development and other things....love it.
