I bought my dogs a couple tug-jugs this week-end, & have been having fun watching the differences in how they play with them. If you're not familiar with a tug-jug, it's a strong plastic container that you fill with kibble, that has a length of thick rope that's knotted on both ends, one end inside of the bottle. If you pull on the rope, it occludes the narrow opening of the bottle, & no kibble can get out. If you push the rope in the bottle, kibble can come out. Simple, but ingenious. My workingling male uses brute force to extract the kibble, he picks it up & slings it, & when it crashes down, some kibble spills out. My showline girl lays down, puts one paw on the bottle, & grabs the rope with her mouth & shoves the rope in, then pulls it out, pulling a few kibble with it each time. The pups have been toting it, then shaking it, with varying degrees of success. I'm going to have to get a couple more of these things, they love it & are quickly developing some jeolousy issues....no one wants to share!
Anyone else use these things? Any comments, pro or con? So far, we're all happy, my only worry is that the plastic may get brittle with age & crack if one of them gets frustrated & bites it.....we'll be watching to prevent that kind of thing, but I was wondering if anyone else had experience with this toy? jackie harris

I love the Tug Jugs !! I used it several times to entertain 4-6 month old puppies, and I like to use Bil-Jac liver flavored treats in it. I think it would be too slow to use as a feed source.. but lots of fun for the puppies. An working line male that was visiting distroyed it in about 5 mins when he chewed off the rubber stopper.. I was fortunate he spit it out, as I think it could have caused a blockage.

I cut the rubber part off, they all can destroy those parts in no time, & of course, mine WOULD swallow them....! They seem to work just as well without the rubber bit! jackie harris
