Long story made short - I am a workingline person who recently acquired a showline dog under unusual circumstances.
Here he is - www.pedigreedatabase.com/german_shepherd_dog/pedigree/494741.html
I know very little about most showline pedigrees and was hoping someone would be willing to share some insight in to what is behind him. The only dog I recognize is Timo and pretty much all I know about him (very limited...) is that he is one of very few sable show dogs who has done well in the ring. You are welcome to contact me privately if you wish to do so.
Thanks

Bummer - 60+ views and no replies....
Guess, I'll cross post on the General side, to see if I can get a bite over there

Don't know much about the S/L pedigrees either, but I think he's worth feeding going by conformation only...He sure resembles his mom...
He's a nice looking dog....Gotta love those sables....

dawg, The dog looks very good in conformation.
Was told that Timo's sable coloring came from his w/l back ground.
I did have a Timo line sable that was excellent. Also, Randy Brent is very familiar with this line.
I thought this Timo son was a star in Aachen:

What are your plans for the dog. How old is he. I am very interested in him.
best,
Rik

Oh, my...what a shame for you, dAWEgSOME, to be saddled with this unfortunate-looking beast. Rather than you wasting your hard-earned money feeding him, I'm willing to take him off your hands and give him a home. I'm sure you don't want the embarassment of someone seeing him at your place...
Seriously, though, I'm far from an expert on bloodlines, but it looks like he's got a nicely open pedigree for a showline dog--the only linebreeding appears to be on Jeck Noricum, back in the 4th and 5th generation, and you could do worse...Jeck is reputed to have had a good work ethic and to have passed it onward. Jeck is also associated with dwarfism, however, so you wouldn't want to see a lot of backmassing on him.
He looks to have his grandsire Timo's phenotype as well as coloration; Timo's maternal grandsire, Fanto Hirschel, is a dog many like to see in a pedigree for working ability. Timo's great-granddam, Assi, was a working line bitch, BTW.
Yesterday's paternal great-granddam, Isis, is a littermate to V6 (BSZS) Idol vd Jahnhöhe.
The paternal great-grandsire, Scott Deodatus, was initially considered to be a good producer but there has been concern WRT bloat and torsion (it is believed Scott died relatively young as a result of this; likewise, several of his grandsons through Wallace Agrigento died suspiciously young as well). I'd suggest it would be well worth it for you to learn the acupressure point for relieving bloat, as well as how to tube a dog, just as a precaution...

Am I missing something or is it just late and maybe I'm tired?
Over and over I see a few individuals talk about how a S/L can't work, et., etc. This dog is a S/L correct? and looking through the pedigree there are numerous others that are titled. Am I not understanding? When individuals say S/L can't work?

Rik,
There was a thread on Arex a while back with a link to a video and yes I can see why he was a star. Such a balanced, controlled & untroubled gait but at a tremendous speed. None of that thrashing of limbs you often see. If you concentrate on just he dog it doesn't seem that fast until you look at the handler and where the others are...

Hexe,
You may not profess to be an expert on bloodlines but you certainly know more than me and your information was gratefully received and digested.
It's interesting what you said regarding Assi being a working line bitch. It seems that even in the early 80s somebody was concerned about the W/L S/L split and wanted to combine the two as it appears she was mated to some top quality V & VA rated S/Ls.
Cheers,
AandA

AandA, I know just a little more than squat...luckily for me, my ability to retain what I've read, seen and/or heard is still pretty sound, that's all.
