Hi Everyone,
I have  spoken to the breeder about this upcomming litter and she has told me what she expects in terms of color and temperaments. I really like the parents and am looking forward to this litter.

I am also curious to hear what some of you have to say about the bloodlines.

Bollo von Skandinavika, Kkl1, LGA, SG-BSP, SchH3, IPO3, FH2
Farah von der Neundorfer Flur, V-SchH3, SG-JHKL

Thanks,

Looks pretty nice :-)  You've met the parents in person?

I have met both of these dogs and have an 8 month old son from Farah von der Neundorfer Flur and Miro vom Wallerhorst. Both Bollo and Kira (call name) have wonderful termperments. Bollo placed 9th in the 2008 Bundessiegerprüfung and 14th in 2009.

I could not be happier with my Kira son. He has tremendous drive like his mother and very eager to please.

I also have a lot of experience with the breeder. My puppy is the second I have from this breeder. She is very ethical and cares a lot about her puppies. She stays in touch on a regular basis just wanting to know how her pups are doing.

I hope this helps.

I see a few very good dogs in the lines, appears that these pups will be linebred on Fado 5-5 it has been reported this dog has had problems in progeny with elbow joints so if this breeder stands behind a good elbow guar.. then might not be a bad gamble buying a young pup many times a crap shoot, but you always want to stack the odds in your favor.

Bundishep,
Yes,the breeder has an excellent health guarantee and has very good references, so I am not worried about her standing behind her pups.

Yes, this is a 5-5 on Fado and I read that he had some progeny with elbow displaysia.
However,
  • he is 5 generations back.
  • was bred to 57 different bitches (that are listed on the PDB) and
  • sired 262 puppies.
So, my question would be, is this really an issue? I mean I could not find anywhere the number of progeny who had ED so the word "some" could mean three or fifty.

As for it being a "crap shoot" ( I hate that term!) is it really?

Why do people say that?

If the breeder is responsible and pairs two healthy, sound (of mind and body) dogs, does their research on health, temperaments, confirmation, drives, etc, ect, then it shouldn't be a "crap shoot", and I'm sure they don't think the breedings a crap shoot either.

Why do we say puppies are a crapshoot? Because there are countless empirical data that shows 2 excellent parents can throw puppies that grow to become undesirable dogs.

When can we stop using the term crapshoot? When humans are able to identify every single gene/combination of genes towards their respective attributes in canines.

I have read on several forums that line breeding on Fado Karthago is not good. The most important thing to look at is the mother lines. Mother lines rule. As for "breeding is a crap shoot", genetics and environment dictate how the pup turns out.
