On the 10th March 2009 I circulated the following and posted it on here (PDB) – little or nothing has been done to date. I trust the GSD League may eventually get around to recognising that the SV System requires an annual programme of events. GSD League members who wish to qualify their GSD under the SV system here in the UK, especially because the cost of doing this in Germany is prohibitive to many, should be supported.
The SV system is slowly developing here in the UK, and much more needs to be done. The SV "dental notation" system has not been introduced, even though I requested a WUSV Club to do this over 2 years ago. I despair when such simple and yet vital SV systems are ignored by the WUSV Clubs. There should be an annual programme introduced here in the UK, by the WUSV Clubs.1) First a seminar to explain the SV breeding qualification process and requirements
then the programme to achieve the qualifications - scheduled throughout the year
All dogs over 18mths? to have SV 'a' stamp for Hips & Elbows, SV DNA test, Tattoo,
2) an AD (endurance test)
3) a BH test (traffic of life test)
4) a Sch1 test (tracking, obedience & protection)
5) a Show grade (minimum G) (this can be obtained at our Our British Sieger Show)
6 a Koerung (can only be taken when ALL previous qualifications gained, and in the year they are 2 years old)
If such a programme was organised annually, some dogs may complete the full qualification through to a Koerung, others may 'pick up' where necessary, the following year to completion. If required more 'items' of the programme could be organised, for example more AD and BH tests. Many people would be delighted to achieve one or both of these with their dogs, and could then possibly do the Sch test the following year.
This programme could and should be repeated annually, with more of each element where demand indicates.
Even if only a few dogs complete the full qualification process in the first year, others will be on the 'ladder' for possible completion the following year, or years.
Such a programme is necessary, and desirable here in the UK. The WUSV Clubs need to get their act together now.
A couple of Regional WUSV events (Landesgruppen Shows) should be held next year and their number increased over following years, in addition to the British Sieger. This will also assist in the gaining of show grades.
