A club member is importing a 2 Yyr.old pregnant bitch from Slovakia. Both dog (ZVV3)  and bitch (ZVV1) carry Slovakian registration. The mating will take place  in Slovakia and the whelping will take place in the USA. Will the puppies have Slovakian or AKC registration?

Crawfish,

This link is for the AKC rules your club member will have to follow. If he/she cannot meet the requirements, or if any of the paperwork is not correct, there could have trouble registering the litter here, and perhaps even in Slovakia. DNA testing is now required of dogs too. All this slows down the process considerably. So it makes good sense to know about the rules before importing and certainly before someone brings a dog here to whelp.

They may be looking at a long, long time for any registration to take place. Make sure your club member knows the rules and can get the right papers to expedite the registration of the dam and the litter.

this might take a while
1. get the export pedigree from slovakia - up to 6 months.
2. get female registered with AKC - http://www.akc.org/pdfs/foreign.pdf  - 4 to 6 weeks
3. get female's DNA sample on file with AKC - http://www.akc.org/dna/test_kits.cfm - up to 6 weeks
4. get puppies registered with AKC - http://www.akc.org/pdfs/literap.pdf - up to 4 weeks

from the owner of the stud......if you don't have this yet get it asap.
you will need a certification from the stud owner - titled..........
Slovenska unia chovatel'ov nemechych ovcoakov
(suchko)
Avaz sportovej Kynologie sr
Kryci List
and a copy of the stud's 4 generation pedigree

The special litter registration form must be signed by the owner of the stud at time of breeding....your friend might want to get this done right away.

Sitasmom did good job here. I would ad that  if the stud has certain amount of  litters here in USA (I am not sure of exact the number at this moment ) then you will need DNA on the stud. That will slow it even more. You can count easily on 8 mo +-. I would inform the buyers of the pups that  papers may take 8 or more months, because some of them may get nasty. ( Can you say S. Berg?)

LOL....Sitasmom - who represents the epitome of OT topic threads, posting drivel to threads she starts that are useless, and changing topics within threads that others start,,,,,,,,she has the audacity to ask about why Ulli posts? Laughable.....She does this because she can, not because she has any sense.

Just to answer your question..
No it is not quite over. But let not change the topic.
Please let it go and PM me if you want to know more.
I have mentioned her only as an example of a nightmare  what may happen if you do not make perfectly clear ( and keep record of it) that the registering a pups from imported  pregnant bitch may take long time. Even if everything goes well it may take 8 mo.
However I do it  all the time and it is rewarding way to breed dogs especially for a novice. That is if you deal with honest and knowledgeable seller.
