This may NOT be normal. Tell your friend to have the dog looked at by a veterinarian to make sure she does not have a tear or an infection. What country do you live in?

I have found that most of my females go back to red bleeding the last day of their season, kinda like their system's cleaning out or something. This happens whether they were bred or not, and only on the last day. If bred they still have a normal pregnancy if it took.

My female bled for two weeks after being bred. Just confirmed last week six pups on ultrasound. If the discharge continues past two weeks, gets worse, doesnt look normal, get her in to the vet. You can also take her temperature (which is a good idea anyway), to make sure she doesnt have a fever. Continue to take her temp every couple of days until the bleeding stops. Any sign of fever, get her to the vet. When implantation of the ocytes occures, the bleeding will stop. But every dog is different.

i had a female that we bred three times which was over 6 days and then she decided to stand for another 11 days and yes she did have pups, so i would say some do stand for quite some time.
