My gsd recently formed a liver colored stripe down the middle of his nose, I was just wondering if that's a normal occurance in gsd.

called a snow nose.  colder weather can cause it, eating from certain bowls will too.

Is there any way I can get rid of it? He has a stainless steel bowl. I live in Montana and right now I'm stuck in the negatives. Or is it bad for him at all? (I'm a new gsd owner and still have a lot to learn about my wonderful boy)

Teufel Hunde

When I was with Animal Control we tried for months to catch 2 Shepherd pups in the dead of winter. We finally got 1 and I landed up adopting him.(go figure!!!) He too ,had a pink nose and we thought we would just have to deal with it since nobody including the vet knew why. After a few months it went away and never came back.

site will not allow me to post pics right now or I would have showed you before and after pics.

Occasionally, a couple of my dogs get it during the colder months.
It has always turned back to solid black by spring......we use stainless bowls also.
*However; a zinc deficiency can also cause a "pigment loss" on nose & lips.*...be sure the food being fed is solid in nutrition.

i use a full spectrim lighting especially during the winter months and haven't had the problem.

I was told by my vet that it is lack of Vit E (sunshine vit) and a supplement will put the problem right - which makes sense for Sitasmum lighting being successful.   Mine also have never had it since I give winter Vit E supplement.    Hope that helps.  Mo.
