Some of you might remember me from my first post here. I was asking about my dog, Milla. Well, I recently found a GSD breeder that was about 15 minutes away from my house, I was shocked. I talked to her a few times and we kind of hit it off. Well one night she emailed me and said that she had a female puppy with a floppy ear that she was going to adopt out for free and to call her. My sister called her about 20 minutes after that and talked to her. The next day, we got to go meet her and all her dogs. And needless to say, I got her!
She's such a cute and sweet little girl. Her name's Mischa and I'm SO excited and happy to have her. Her parents are from the West German working line, so that's cool. Anyway, enough rambling, lol. Here are some pics of her:

Nice looking pup, you may want to try feeding some high protein yogurt with every meal. We feed our dogs yogurt up until 1 year of age. It may bring that ear up. 1 tsp. per meal
Just a thought.

If you want that ear to come up(which it looks like it will), you might want to try giving it some support NOW.
Go out and get some Dr. Scholl's Mole Foam Padding (not Moleskin padding or Moleskin plus, get MOAL FOAM PADDING) we get it at Wal-Mart. Cut some forms to shape and glue them in the ear. Clean the ear with alcohol first to get ear wax out so it will stick better. The mole foam padding has a sticky back, but it is not sticky enough to hold so we put Tear Mender fabric glue(we get it at Tractor Supply or Walgreens) on the sticky side (after we peel the backing off) and then a bit in the ear as well, a very thin layer is all you need on each half. Then stick it in the dogs ear and hold in place for a few minutes. Usually it hold in our dogs ears for a week or more. If you need to you can do a bit of extra support and wrap a bit of black gorilla tape around the base to hold it up. I'm posting a pic of a dog that we did both ears on. This pic is after about 10 days, and we knew we were about to replace it so we let him go swimming, and wrestle all day with his brothers, so the ears in this pic look wonky, but it is due to abuse ;). If you keep the ear up like this for 3-4 weeks I'm betting it will stay, it looks like she's already got the strength in the base. Give it a try if you care about it.

She is beautiful. You are lucky to have found each other. Do you have her pedigree?
Regarding the ear, it almost looks like her ear has some sort of injury or congenital defect rather than just being soft. Are you able to hold it up with your hand, or is it crinkled down like it had a hematoma? Since it is only a picture, it is hard to tell.
Have fun, and please keep us updated on her.

nice pup,of course the care and upbringing of your pup is up to you,but it looks as if there is plenty of "base" on the floppy ear, imho,i wouldn't start putting any thing in her ear(glue, moleskin, ect.)just yet, diet and excercise of the jawbone will probably bring it up,you could massage it to stimulate blood flow to the area....keep people away from stroking the pup's ears...you do the massage! if your pup has foreign objects put in the ear...she'll probably start messin" with it and possibly cause damage.....you don't even want to be dealing with an infection at this stage, also,if they've been up prior to now...they'll come back up on their own....good luck.

Sweet pup, I agree don't try all that mumbo jumbo black magic to bring the ears up....it's either there or it's not...has nothing to do with what could be a great dog.......Keep things simple and life will be good.
Best wishes, Two Moons.

Congratulations on your new pup!

She is adorable! Let the ear do what it will. Ears don't make the dog. Share more pics anytime you feel like it. Very happy for you.
