I am hopeful someone who has already done this can help me find the easiest way?

I understand the practical element of flea and tick treatment but I am confused by the UK KC paperwork requirements!

I found this information from the UK KC web site;

THIS FORM MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY
A) A certified export pedigree (photocopy) issued by the appropriate Overseas Kennel Club. The person importing the dog should be shown as the registered owner on this
export pedigree.
B) If the export pedigree does not show the owner as the person(s) importing the dog, a registration certificate issued by the Kennel Club of the country from which the dog is
being imported from.
C) Where an export pedigree is not issued by the Overseas Kennel Club (America, Canada, Ireland, Germany, Guernsey and Jersey) a certified pedigree (or photocopy) is required.
D) Certification of pedigree by VDH (Germany only).

Do I need to ask the present owners to re-register the dog in my name with German Kennel Club? Is this the VDH?
Is the easiet way to obtain the export pedigree? Is an export pedigree necessary?  Is a certification of pedigree by VDH mandatory?

I would appreciate any help please.

Bridget.

Hi Bridget

You need the dog to be registered in your ownership in Germany and an export pedigree will be issued.  You send the UK KC a copy of it and then the dog will be registered with them.

If you are not planning to breed or show, then you don't need to bother, you don't even need the pedigree to bring the dog in as a pet only.

Thank you Margaret.

So does having the dog registered in my name in Germany automatically provide an Export Pedigree or does this have to be requested in addition by her current owners.  It is my intention to show her in UK so I will need to register her with our KC.

Do I also need D) - Certification of pedigree by VDH (Germany only) if I have the Export Pedigree?

I can't seem to get my head around this at all!

Thank you Delsasmum.  Yes, her pet passport is good.  I am just wanting to make sure I have all the correct paperwork so I can show her and then possibly breed from her in the future.

You definately need an en export pedigree from the vdh showing you as the new owner before the English kennel club will issue you with the kc registration.
The vdh are very efficient. I have imported several dogs with sv pedigrees.
If the dog comes without the vdh export pedigree, you need to send the original sv pedigree, signed by the previous owner to the vdh ( I have dealt with a lady named Monika several times, she speaks very good English) . I believe the fee for the export pedigree was 60 euros the last time I applied.
I have always received the paperwork back within 10 days, a copy of the export certificate then goes to the English kennel club who should then register the dog in your name.
Of course if you can get the current owner to send the vdh paperwork with the dog it will save having to send the original sv papers back to Germany.

Tony is correct , the VDH issue an 'export pedigree' it is just a grey certificate that they stick to the front of the pink pedigree, It costs 60 euro, you have to send a copy of this and a copy of the SV pink pedigree to the KC with a completed KC import form .

Thank you Tony & Carol.
I have spoken with the German breeder who has assured me she can arrange this so I am feeling more relaxed now!  It is best to get all this paperwork done before the dog arrives?  I am hopefully going to show her next year.

I have now spent some time with my new dog in Germany and have talked with her breeder at length.  She is happy for her to be transported by air from Frankfurt to UK.  Has anyone any knowledge of this animal facility please -

www.lhcargo.com/GB/content.jsp;jsessionid=2F1EEB29E31CBD6B73F5F9E749C2398C ?

It looks very good and will be easier for both me and the dog than driving.  I am curious to know how much flying a dog would cost - she is a smaller bitch weighing only about 25kgs.

Thank you all for your help so far.

It depends on who is taking her to the airport and getting her papers in order as to what those costs would be.  There are companies that do that too.  So there are things to raise your cost.  Air Carrier may not be the only cost.

As for that short a flight for a small puppy, should not be too bad at cost

The shipper is good and has done it before.
