weight loss after first heat cycle - Page 1

I have a female GSD that is turning 10 months next week. She just completed her first heat cycle about 2-3 weeks ago. She weighed 72 pounds prior and now is 67 pounds. Her appetite is starting to come back, so I'm sure she will put her weight back on. She looks great and is full of energy................is this normal??? Please don't be confused I just want to make sure she is healthy. I'm hoping she doesn't get much bigger than 75  pounds . She is very athletic and I want her to be a fit properly sized dog.

I wouldnt worry cuz my 3 retired show pugs ( yes they arent shepherds....lol) all lose weight after a complete cycle.  My youngest one has lost about 7 lbs and she is starting to gain it back now.

Thank DOG mine did after her first cycle;  she put on a fast 10 lbs right before her first heat that for her was way too much!   She was downright chubby!  Thankfully she got back down to her svelte self again not long after!

Sita's first heat cycle was just horrible, she didn't eat for 2 weeks and even vomited for 2 days. She just wanted to find a dark place to hide. I thought was bloating because she vomited foam. Vet couldn't find anything wrong with her. She started weighing about 57 lbs and went down to 52 lbs. Her second heat was much, much easier.
