Hi,
I ran into a gorgeous sable 8 month old female shepherd named Viva in one of my own dog's training classes. Me and her owner got talking, and she said her dog is a ton to handle (more then just puppy energy) and she's always trying to get someone to play with her. I tested her out with toys and I barely moved the toy before she latched herself on, completely into it. She's very smart and listens well. I mentioned schutzhund to her. She said she'd heard of it, but didn't have the time to train her dog. We've talked multiple times now, and she recently said that if I was willing to, I could teach Viva schutzhund. I don't know if this is a good idea, though - is it all right for a dog's handler to be someone she doesn't live with and deal with regularly?
Thx.

NO, of course not. In the history of the breed this has NEVER EVER HAPPENED. : P

In case you didn't get it, that was sarcasm at it's finest.
I was at the local Schutzhund spring trials in June and there was a guy there handling a dog that was not his own.

no big deal.....just be sure to follow the organizations (usa, wda, dvg) rules as it applies to "handlers trialing dogs that they don't own",i put the "BH"on a dog that i didn't own, however"schutzhund usa" stipulated that the owner must be a "usa" member, not sure if that's still the case, but the answer should be fairly easy to find....just be sure you've got all your "ducks in a row" prior to trial day,to save yourself any undue time and expense.
