I wrote to my M P about this bill and had this reply:-

Thank you for writing to me about Liberal Democrat Peer, Lord Redesdale's Private Members Bill on Dog Control. This Private Member's Bill did not proceed past the Second Reading in the last Parliament and as a consequence fell when Parliament dissolved.

The previous Government began a public consultation on dangerous dogs, with several options for possible changes to the legislation. Once we have considered all the responses we will decide what action to be taken, if any.

Thank you, once again for taking the time to contact me.

Yours sincerely,

The Rt Hon Owen Paterson, M P

That is a relief, then but I think we should keep in contact with our M P's about ways to proceed.

Eh?  Last I heard, it had the second reading in the House of Lords last Friday week, 9 July, and now goes to a Public Bill Committee.

Debate on the second reading for anyone interested here -
