10 month old females 1st heat - Page 1

Hello all, this is my first posting. I have a 10 month old female weighs about 57 lbs. She has started her 1st heat. I noticed a small amount of bleeding a few days ago. She also has is not very hungry. She was never a food hog. I actually have to keep my older Beagle away so she doesnt heat my Shepherd food. But I fed them over an hour ago and Athena hasnt eaten much if any of her food. I feed her a little late last nite, as we were playing kinda late. Since I cant take her out like I would normally we played in the backyard. But my question is "is it normal for the females to have less of an appetite when in season"? Thanx in advance

You are lucky i watched Izzy like a Hawk, waiting for her to show that she was in heat, but nothing at all, Now coming 14 months old i am still watching her to see any signs, of a going into season, todate nothing

Yeah I had been waiting. I have an 7 yr. old female beagle and she came into heat two weeks ago. And I expected or hoped that would get Athena going and a week later sure enough. And my beagles probably had nothing to do with Athena going into heat but it is here. I just hate the drop in appetite. Good luck with Izzy and keep watching.

I posted the same question.  I have a 8 1/2 month old that started her first heat as well. Her appetite is not as good as she was prior to her heat. She's still very energetic and looks great, so I'm not worried about it.
