Is dark sable and black sable the color?  I'm looking for a picture of a typical "dark" sable as it was described to me.
Thanks...

Depends on who you talk to:)
Some people say that "black sables" carry the black recessive. Obviously cannot tell that by looking at them.
In general, they would be the same.

I'm one of those that does that; "black sable" to describe the genotype (which isn't necessarily a "dark" dog) and "dark sable" to describe the phenotype (which doesn't necessarily carry the black gene).

I consider a dog like Harro Lechrainstadt, or Yoschy Dollw. dark sables.

I consider Congo Vikar a black sable.

Sitasmom.
I would consider all 3 dark sables.

This female I would concider a dark sable...

This is a black sable...

They are all Dark Sables... Black Sable seems to be an Americanism.

I would consider all dogs pictured here dark sables except for the bottom pic in Jyl's response, that's a black sable. JMO
