Question about sch3 title?
If you ONLY going to use your GSD as a guard dog and it's going to stay at your property most of the time, will schutzhund title improve the dog?
1. the dog is more Alert after schutzhund training
2. Better biter to bring someone down
3. Improve protective insticts
4. And Etc.....
I seen people have GSD without schutzhund title and this dogs do just fine without schutzhund as a guard dog!
Sorry, I' am new for schutzhund!

A title won't improve a dog, but training might. And as for the other questions, 1)no; 2)after a couple years of training, maybe; 3)same as 2, except that you won't be improving instincts, just reactions. And...remember that it takes a very long time to put a 3 on a weak dog, if it's possible at all. You gotta have the genetics first.
Also: It seems from reading your other posts that you think Sch is the only way to go. There are many protection sports that would be better if all you want to do is get your dogs to protect your property. I mean, do you really need the TRACKING phase?

If your goals are personal and home protection, then there is no reason to do SchH other than if you just want an activity to do with your dog. Schutzhund is not the same as police-style or personal protection training. That's why it's called a sport, it's a competitive sport for working dog versatility-- nowhere does it say SchH3= personal protection dog!!!! You could also train to a SchH3 level without actually trialing your dog or obtaining titles, you could still have a dog that does all those exercises, but in real life your dog as a home dog will not be doing any of those activities.
You can accomplish the goals of home protection by doing your obedience (every dog needs obedience and control), then doing protection bitework in different environments including at your house. Having your dog agitated at the house is going to be important.

Thank you!
I work 37- 40 hours a week, I wanted to make sure when I get home - my dog is doing his job keeping strangers away!
That is all :) :)

Lost in the shuffle is the fact that SchH and personal/property protection are tasks that generally use dogs with different temperamental and drive makeups.
First step is to have a good trainer assess your dogs for temperament and suitability.
