A couple of days ago I posted a new thread titled "Zamp - cause of death?" asking if there had been any official announcement re the cause of his death and also asking for views re the thorny subject of popular sires.

There were some very helpful posts in reply (and thank you to those who replied).

The thread has now disappeared? Is this a glitch or was there a problem with it?

Guess your true motives for starting the thread were well and truly rumbled. If you truly wanted the answer you would have contacted the owners of the dog. Don't you think you would get a better answer from them, than on a forum where you will get so many inaccurate answers? Oh I forgot you only deal in inaccurate. You seem to think you always have the answers to everything else concerning the GSD, you're slipping a bit, lol.

Jemima, you might want to do a search on this database of your name. I think too many people resented your appearance here and complained about the thread, so it was deleted. Most people think you will twist everything to suit your own purposes and doubt your interest in actual facts.

Well, Bazza, am not sure what you imagine my true motives are. I really am trying to seek info/input, not looking to dish dirt, which I presume is some people's fear. It did not seem unreasonable to ask if Zamp's cause of death had been announced. I reckoned those here would know if it had been given that I presume there is considerable interest.

I'm writing a piece on popular sires for Dogs Today. If Zamp has died of something hereditary, then it's an issue for his progeny and is an example of how breeding a lot from one dog may cause a problem. If he's died from an unlucky one-off, then it is not relevant. If no one knows, or the owners won't say, then all one can write is that you hope it wasn't anything that he could have passed on to his puppies.

The article is a broad look at the issue of popular sires - about which much more expert people than me believe needs to be handled carefully. I was pleased that The Hungarian Viszla Club spoke out quite strongly after Crufts about their concern about the fact that BIS Yogi has sired more than 10 per cent of registered vizlas since he arrived in the UK (twice the recommended FCI limit). He's a stunning dog of course - and no one is suggesting he is anything other than wonderfully healthy - but his use is shrinking an already small gene pool.

Things are different in a breed as big as the GSDs, of course and I understand that. I also appreciate that the top GSDs are very likely to have passed all the existing health tests given the strong culture of health testing in the breed. However, there are many conditions for which there are no health tests - epilepsy was talked about here recently, for instance.

If this thread too is not to be deleted, I remain interested in people's views on the broader issue if popular sires.

Jemima, I do believe you burnt your bridges here long ago. No matter how you try to sugar coat your motives, your last escapade tells us exactly what you are.....a wolf in sheep's clothing. You are an expert in twisting the truth and selective editing, what makes you think anyone would trust you with any information for you to misquote and edit for your own ends. As was said before the information you asked for was on the death of a dog, and already you are quoting stud limits etc etc. Ask the owner they are the ones who know the facts no one here can or hopefully will.
I WILL CERTAINLY COMMENT NO FURTHER AS SURELY ANYTHING SAID HERE WILL BE GROSSLY MISQUOTED, good luck with your research, try to keep to the facts, truth, if that's possible, or does it depend on the fee you get how juicy you make an article?
DO NOT FEED THIS PARTICULAR TROLL.

Jemima as i said on your missing thread why would any true GSD breeder/exhibitor want to spend the time of day with you as has been said before if you want to know anything about a dog then the best person to ask is the owner but i doubt very much if they would speak to someone who twists everything to suit her money grabbing pocket

You're "writing a piece on popular sires", and seeking out anonymous, unreliable, sources on an internet msg board? I can see it now "user name showlinessuck stated". Gimme a break. You're a joke and a poor excuse for a journalist/writer.

Jemima
Who are you to be able to put anything down on paper or even a website even if this Zamp died through a Genetic fault, which i would think highly unlikely
Firstly are you qualified to access such a thing for to do that you would  need to fully understand Genetics from A to Z in other words you would need to be qualified such as being a Professor on Genetics, are you such a person with these qualifications, If not then you are delving into things which you cannot prove, and you would be saying things which would stir the Pot but without foundation of doing so,
Leave alone which do not concern you personally the owners have enough to cope with there dog already gone, for unless you have a vested interest in the Dog then it is of no concern to you or any of us
