Just thought I would let you all see the dog the op was referring to

Not in show stance not been shown since a pup, he does how ever do therapy work on an acute psychiatric ward, act as a stooge dog when rehabilitating other dogs, blood donor, flushes game will pick up as well, can run, can jump more than 6 ft, mentally stable, good companion. Unfortunately had some recent injuries the first last year when he severed a vein and tendon at the front pastern joint, this year suffered trauma resulting in me re x-raying his hips hence the shaved patch, photos taken this morning.

What OP? Is that the puppy I saw the ad for? If so, were you making him stand like that?

by Wildmoor on 09 May 2010 - 00:05

No VomMarischal, I was refering to the igit in the freaks thread this is my male who she said was extremely over angulated.
Pam

this is for you Maggie when you come back on I sugggest you pay them a visit www.opticiansdevon.co.uk/opticians-devon-virtual-tour.php  hope its close enough for you to find, if not there are a couple of others in Devon.

OH, no wonder. He looks beautiful and strong, fabulous color too. VERY cool about the therapy work. Must be dead calm.

Wildmoor, handsome male, but for me anyway you had no need to post his picture. I know enough about you, the work you do, the knowledge you have and dedication to this breed, that you own only breed standard dogs. If only your critic would or could take a leaf out your book!!

Handsome boy!  Fab colour too!

by kimbailey on 09 May 2010 - 15:05

For me he's a lovely colour, but his hindend isn't what I like to see and he looks uncomfortable, almost hunched in the second picture.  I don't like to see the back end slope away like that, but that's my preference, I prefer a stronger rear end.  If you compare to a less angulated dog you can see they have a stronger back line, sorry Pam, I don't know your dog 'in the flesh' or his pedigree.

I don't know the owner of this dog, nor did I see the original post referred to, but Kimbailey no way would I call this dog over angulated.  If I were to judge him I would probably criticise him for lacking hind angulation, turn of stifle, however he is a lovely looking lad, and from the description sounds like just the sort of dog I would choose to have.

The dog looks in no way "hunched".  He has no roach and is in no way over angluated.  The "back end sloping away" is simply a somewhat steep croup and has nothing to do with the soundness of the dog or strength of his rear.
