So I was at a seminar with my club and the "Trainer" asked me what kind of dog I had, I told him a GSD. He asked what type, (like this should matter) I told him a Show Line that was 15 months old. I guess I did not know that they must have some kind of a disease because I certainly did not get a lot of help from him. Later that day he made the comment several times that he did not like show lines. What the hell is wrong with a good Show Line. Nothing against the working line people, but my little girl has alot of spirit, and heart, even more than a couple of working lines in my club. She is already doing things at 15 mo. that some of the working lines are not doing at 3 yrs. Not that this matters, but boy it makes me mad. I feel like the next time someone asks me what kind of dog I have, I'm going to tell them I have a disease, because this is how you are treated.
Thanks for letting me vent,

Shrug it off and move on - you can flip that person a big fat bird when your dog achieves his/her goal..... I did..hehe

I took one of mine to agility class. The dogs in class had very bad obedience and dog agression but my dog they called "that shepherd". Even when she fearlessly went through the chute and walked the plank etc. They were very predjudice against her. SHe is a year old puppy full of fun and well socialized, yet they were afraid of her. While the border collies and another pampered house dog peed in the tunnel and snapped at their handlers, I was pretty amused as my girl lay quietly waiting her turn. They also hated my fur saver as opposed to their pink matching lead and collars. The last class I had had it. The snide comments from the sidelines and on and on. They asked if I was coming back. I said no that this was a fun thing for her and that she was doing Schutzhund. I showed them her going after the leather, flying thru the air, teeth showing! They were horrified that I would teach "that shepherd" to bite and be agressive. I laughed all the way to the car.
Hang in there. They are beautiful.

I know that everyone is entitled to their own opions, but man I just want to slap them. My littel girl is already running the blinds, and doing a flawless bark and hold, she is fearless. I know she is still a baby, and sometimes in obedience this shows, but I love her and she has a great spirit. And yes they are BEAUTIFUL.

Yes I agree, but you don't have a "Trainer" recriminating against them. They see the working line and everyone else may as well go home. Look I love all GSD's show and working, I just wish that people could look past the color and at least try to see if the dog is worth anything, instead of just assuming that they don't.

I like good dogs and I don't care what bloodline they come from.
I get bombarded by show people telling me that my dog is mean, bad, aggressive, unstable.. and at one point somebody insulted me by predicting the future of my dog a as child killer.. WTF? so... It goes both ways.
Go ahead, vent.. but I suggest you get over it and work your dog.

Like I said, I love this breed no matter the color or line. I just happen to choose a show line.

People seem to under estimate things that come in a "pretty" packages anyway. That goes for more than just GSD.....would go for the dog handlers as well..... just my opinion....
