You can always do a search at
http://www.merckvetmanual.com/
or Drs Foster & Smith's
http://www.peteducation.com
The Merck site gives the best information, but is sometimes very technical. Peteducation is written for pet owners and no special medical knowledge is needed to understand the articles.
Or just google for info, but your mileage may vary on such sites. Some are accurate, some are complete hogwash.
Sorry I can't include hot links, but I'm using the wrong browser today.

one of my males had one in his mouth - lower jaw, front, growing between front teeth. vet removed the growth and 1 tooth a little less than 4 yrs ago. i keep an eye on it just to be sure it isn't growing back. we sent it to ISU for testing and they sent back the report saying that was infact what it was. so far so good, but i do keep an eye on it.

Thanks guys. Those sites were great! Very informative. Sorry to hear your boy had to lose a tooth, hope that won't be the case.

so yours is in the mouth, too? i've heard these things can develop in the esophagus and other hard to detect places. what does your vet have to say about it? p.m. me if you'd like. i am interested in hearing from others about this and would like to learn more. just out of curiosity......what kind of breeding is your dog? i always wondered if there was any sort of genetic predisposition for this. wish you luck with it.

Ya in the corner of the mouth. kinda in the gums. by the time i had found them they had been there for awhile already. ie had started to cauliflower. I had heard the same thing. Vet had told me to really only worry when they develop on the esophagus or tongue or if he is having a difficult time eating. I feel for the guy but she told me to wait it out. Be responsible and keep him away from other dogs. She had said too that once they have them and their bodies immune system starts working they will develop an immunity. He's a GSD. I really have no idea if it's a genetic problem, i'm pretty sure that it has something to do with a lower/weak immune system ie. puppies and older dogs may get them easier.
