I wanted to say "I would love to know the kennel".

The reason for this is because i am researching breeders..and wanted to know where other people got their dogs from..

I got 2 from hauswalder bach www.hauswalder-bach.de/.. Fee and Wandy. Wandy www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/582834.html, I am very satisfied with. Fee, I placed in a pet home because of poor character. I would not buy another from this kennel unless I went and evaluated them personaly, which I did with Wandy and did not do with Fee

If I wanted another sight unseen, I would contact Francis www.pfalzerheide.eu/ who sometimes post here.

This is just my experience and as said before there are many good breeders in Germany. The best by far German showline I have owned, I found at Silbersee kennels here in the U.S www.pedigreedatabase.com/gsd/pedigree/581217.html.

If you truley want a winner, you have to go and evalute the dog personaly.

Good luck,
Rik

I got mine from Julie Richards-Mostosky, Alta-Tollhaus.  I LOVE LOVE LOVE him.  There is some variation in his litter as far as temperament and conformation but she picked him for me and he is just as I wanted.  Currently he does Schutzhund, rally obedience, dock diving, and agility.  We will also do weight pull and lure coursing with the UKC.  I have shown him in UKC, AKC, and the SV-type shows here in the USA (many WDA shows, he is currently SG2, and the UScA Sieger Show last year).  He is a medium sized male, not extreme, and has very good color and pigment.  He was a "blanket black" until he was about 1 year old so he has a full black saddle (no bitch stripe) and a darker face, plus very red.  I like a lot of black pigment.

I learned about the litter because I am friends with the breeder.  I did not just choose her litter simply b/c she is a friend, I did look at other breeders (working line as well) to be objective but chose her because I know so much about her dogs and her breedings and was satisfied with what I saw and also how she handles her "puppy people", offers support, resolves disputes, etc.  For me it is just as important to support a breeder with integrity than buy the perfect dog. I love my dog's dam and would love to own her too.  As much as I love my GSDs I am not really a "dog person", I'm very very picky and most of my friends' dogs I would never want to own even if they are beautiful GSDs, so it says a lot to me that I love the dam.  One of the female littermates was returned recently and she is very similar to my dog, I love her as well.

The breeding took place in Germany so I have not met the sire (but did meet the owner when he was in the US) so that was a bit of a gamble, but so far I am very pleased with my dog both in the show ring but most importantly his training and his overall temperament.  My dogs are house dogs and are first and foremost my companions and serve as protection by being a visual deterrent so I need dogs that are trustworthy, easy to train, settle in the house, can live with other dogs, and have an off/on switch.

One of my dogs' littermates who is his "twin" (closest in looks and temperament)
