Hi can anyone tell me more info on this dog? I like some of the dogs he has produced, such as Pike. But I don't really know much about him. What kind of temperament & health was he know to produce?
One of the stud dogs I'm considering in the future with my girl would be a 4-5 linebreeding on Karlo Peko Haus.
It's hard to make an informed choose without really know this do better. He seemed have produced some nice sport / working dogs, but don't know anything else. He looks a little on the shorter side but didn't seem to produce that-???
Thanks for any info, Carol

Good hard dog. Not a highly accomplished dog, but a decent producer. He had his issues though, e.g., he had a high ZW (Produced worse hips than the "average" GSD).

Take a look at this: www.schaeferhunden.eu/winsis_x/winsisshowdog.php
Make sure to view his Breed Survey. Says he was 64 cm. That's not short.

Take another look at some of his offspring here: www.working-dog.eu/kinder-details/32533/Karlo-vom-Peko-Haus

I've always heard to always breed to the very best males available, and if you line breed, line breed to nothing less than a legend. Is Karlo a legend? I'll let you decide.

What is the pedigree of the bitch in question to line breed to Karlo? What are the other lines in question?

I agree with the above analysis. I like to see Karlo in a pedigree, but would not linebreed on him. Have a Czech female that is linebred on Aly Vordisteinwald 4-4. This would be the type of female I would breed to a dog like Karlo. Overcompensation in hip department. But he definely improves hardness and nerve in general.JMO

Thank you guys for the info! It really helped. My female is out of Orry X Dargo daughter, which is lined bred off Grim.
She has a wonderful temperament, her pre-limbs  xrays of hips & elbows looked great, She'll be OFA in a couple weeks. She is a wonderful worker & going to have fun trailing her this summer. I want to finnish my research in stud selection.
The stud in question was my second choice for her. The breeding would be complete out cross except for the 4-5 linebreeding on Karlo. The stud has so far produced all good or better hips from all his breedings. Now I doubt if I should consider him because of the resulting line breeding. I just really loved this dog & his pedigree.  But now I'm worried worried about the hips in the offspring they would produce. Thanks again, Carol
