Our dear "Winston Tramellas Wasco" has been recently diagnosed with the dreaded C.D.R.M . In nearly 50years this is the first time one of our G.S.D.S has been affected. So its all some what new to us.But we realize there is no happy ending.
He goes to a canine Hydrotherapy pool once a week .He has had some laser treatment.and also some Accupuncture treatment,we have him on a Fresh meat Diet . Medication 30mil Metacam daily .
If anyone can suggest anything else we can do to help him at this time we would be grateful for a call on 01604 770758 . Many thanks Ray&Beryl Sullivan .

Because it is not a painful condition, they are good candidates for 'wheels' if you wanted to go down that route. If you do, I can highly recommend someone, a friend of mine recently used some for her shepherd and they were fabulous, there are lots of different types and she tried another before the last one, and the last one was superb in terms of ease of use and comfort for the dog. I know many people do not wish to go this route, and I don't know whether I would, I think it would depend on the dog. I didn't have the option years ago, there was no such thing around, but still I don't know whether I would have done or not.
Let me know if you want the info. I don't know if I am allowed to post it on the board, and I don't know how to send a pm. If you do, send me one and I will hopefully be able to reply.
Enjoy the time you have with him, and remember, he doesn't know there is a problem, and he feels no pain with it.

Hi Ray... sorry to hear your news. McTimoney may help. When they lose some of the feeling in their spine, they can end up knocking discs out... McTimoney re-aligns the spine, it's pretty much the same as a Chiropractor.
I had reasonable results with Buddy after he did the splits (back legs) on the kitchen floor, which left him with a spinal problem. Google for a practitioner in your area.
Good luck.
